Tourism-related businesses join Yogyakarta forum

With the new airport, Yogyakarta aims to attract 15 million foreign tourists by 2021. It currently only welcomes 3 million foreign visitors.

T

he Tourism Ministry gave their support for Indonesian Association Amusement Parks and Recreation (PUTRI)’s event named ‎the National Communication Forum 2017 that was held in Yogyakarta on Oct. 12-15.

Themed “Acceleration of Sustainable Tourism Destinations Growth for the People’s Prosperity”, the forum was a national meeting on the improvement of Indonesian tourism.

“This is the work of all members of PUTRI in their effort to promote the region’s potential and strengthen the partnership network for the continuity of Indonesian tourism. This meeting is also the place to find solutions for any tourism-related problems,” said central executive board (DPP) PUTRI Yogyakarta head, GKR Bendara.

The meeting hosted RAKERDA (Provincial Work Meeting) DPD PUTRI between Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces, as well as Putri Expo 2017 event.

Up to 400 participants from provincial administrations, tourist attractions, tourism educational institutions, tourism associations, hotel industry, tour and travel business, airlines, private business and other tourism-related businesses participated in the event.

With the new airport, Yogyakarta aims to attract 15 million foreign tourists by 2021. It currently only welcomes 3 million foreign visitors.

Additionally, the national tourism growth for this year is reported to be at 20 percent, four times than the national economic growth. (kes)
