fter performing in Garut, puppet master Ki Dalang Wawan Ajen is bringing his Wayang Ajen (shadow puppet) performance to Rancah Square in Ciamis on Nov. 18.

“Wayang Ajen is one of the most popular wayang groups; that’s why we are collaborating with them to promote Pesona Indonesia through art performance,” explained Tourism Ministry’s archipelago tourism marketing development deputy, Esthy Reko Astuti.

Wayang Ajen is known for telling old traditions in a modern way that is appealing to the younger audience.

The group will perform a two-hour play titled "Suluk Jabaning Langit" that brings the issue of human spirituality.

Other entertainers who will perform at the event include Ade Batak, Jenong Sasagon, Rita Tila, Ridwan Ch Madris, Anggri Sri Wilujeng and K.H. Dadang Muliawan.

After attending the wayang performance, visitors can go to several tourist attractions in Ciamis such as Situ Lengkong Panjalu, an island located in the middle of the lake. On this island, there’s the tomb of Hariang Kencana, son of Hariang Borosnogora. The island also usually hosts Nyangku traditional ritual.

There are also Ciung Wanara, a Hindu-Buddhist heritage site from the Galuh Empire that is located in Karangmulyan Village, Kuta Village in Karangpaningal Village, Curuh Tujuh Cibolang, Batu Karas Beach, Batu Hiu Beach and Karang Nini Beach. (kes)
