orth Central Timor Regency (TTU) in East Nusa Tenggara hosted a cross-border event on Nov. 17 – 18. The event, entitled Motorcycle Rally Tour, was joined by 100 people from the regency and Timor Leste.

“This motorcycle rally is part of the activities that aim to explore the tourism of North Central Timor,” said North Central Timor Regent Raymundus Sau Fernandes via the Regent’s economy and development assistant Robertus Nahas.

The race was divided into two laps with the total distance of 187 kilometers and went on for 13 hours. The the first lap began on Nov. 17 from Polsek Wini to Naekake.

The second lap was held on the second day from Naekake to Oemanu Kefamenanu field.

Out of the 100 participants, only 40 managed to get to the finish line. Winners were awarded with the total prize of 40 million rupiahs.

Throughout their journey, participants passed through four tourist sites such as WINI Crossborder Post (PLBN) located in Bukit Karang Tandus Manufunu and is sometimes called as the Indonesia’s Little Texas, Napan that spouts cold mud, Mutis where Pah Koto Waterfall is located, Tola Mummi which is the house of thousand year olds corpses and Eban Agro-tourism.

The event had its closing ceremony on the evening of Nov. 18 at Oemanu Kefamenanu Field and was closed by North Central Timor tourism department head Agustinus Kasenube. (asw)
