Kuningan Regency in West Java is getting ready to host Tour de Linggarjati (TdL) 2017 cycling event.

So far, TdL has attracted 200 national and international cyclists.

“The registered participants are from Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. This is the third TdL and it's being prepared to become an international event like Tour de Singkarak,” explained Tourism Ministry’s archipelago tourism marketing development deputy Esthy Reko Astuti.

“TdL 2017 is aiming for 500 local tourists and 150 overseas tourists with the total spending of more than two billion rupiahs,” Esthy added.

Last year, the Regency welcomed three million tourists with the total spending of 2.4 trillion rupiahs.

Kuningan Regent H. Acep Purnama said that the Regent has announced the tourism sector as a leading sector.

“We have 14 well-established tourist attractions and dozens other that have the potential to be developed, eight annual cultural events, four historic sites and supported by 37 hotels and lodgings,” said Acep.

Acep added that traveling to Kuningan is very easy especially with the opening of Tol Cikapali toll road where people can go from Jakarta to Kuningan in three and a half hours, then there’s also Cisumdawu Toll road and the upcoming Kertajati International Airport.

TdL 2017 is also held to celebrate the 519th anniversary of Kuningan Regency and 71st anniversary of Linggarjati Agreement.

The race is divided into two categories: Individual Time Trial (ITT) from Simpang Tiga Caracas to Gedung Perundingan Linggarjati (9.9 kilometers) on Dec. 1, Individual Road Race (IRR) from and to Kuningan Regency regional administration office (Youth: 30.7 kilometers, junior: 63.7 kilometers and elite: 106.4 kilometers) on Dec. 2 at 08:00 a.m. – 01:00 p.m. (asw)
