T

he seventh lap of Tour de Singkarak (TdS) 2017 was held on Nov.24. Indonesian cyclist Imam Arifin on KFC Cycling team was the first who finished the 112 kilometers-track in 02:56:24, followed by Robert Muller and Matej Drinovec.

“I didn’t expect that I could win here, the track was pretty tough because there was a long ascending road. 50 meters to the finish line, Muller began to lose his grip so I sped up and I ended up winning this lap,” said Imam.

This Imam’s second win throughout the TdS 2017, his first was on the sixth lap that was held on Nov. 23, and also marks the third win for the KFC Cycling Team.

Meanwhile, Muller said that he wasn’t aware Imam was beside him as he was close to the finish line.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect there was a cyclist beside me,” said Muller.

Even though he finished second in the seventh lap, Muller still keeps his position as the fastest sprint (green jersey), he has collected a total of 72 points up until this lap. Meanwhile, for the climbing category (polka-dot jersey), Khalil Khorshid of Tabriz Shahrdary Team is still in the number one spot with 77 points.

For the general ranking (yellow jersey), Daniel Whitehouse of CCN Cycling Team is still number one and the red and white jersey for the best Indonesian athlete is currently owned by Jamal Hibatulloh of KFC Cycling Team.

The seventh lap of TdS 207 traveled to Harau Valley and Kelok 9. Cyclists had to ride between cliffs that were 100 to 500 meters high at Harau Valley. (asw)
