uningan regency in West Java is holding Tour de Linggarjati 2017. The event that runs from Dec. 1 to 3 is themed "Crossing Nature, Understanding Culture, Loving the History."

The race is joined by 250 racers from five countries, who are divided into 43 teams.

The starting point of this race is at Pancalang Village Soccer Field.

The first day of the race was divided into three categories: Men’s/women’s beginner, junior and elite professionals. The total track was 9.9 kilometers with Perundingan Linggarjati parking area as the finish line.

Perundingan Linggarjati Building is one of the most historic buildings in Indonesia, as it is where the diplomatic negotiation between Indonesia and Netherlands was held that resulted in the agreement on the status of independence of Indonesia.

“This event is the pride of the people of West Java. I fully support Tour de Linggarjati as an international cycling event in Kuningan,” said West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan.

TdL 2017 aims to attract 500 domestic and 150 foreign tourists with a total spending of Rp 2 billion.

Kuningan Regent Acep Purnama added that the event also promotes tourism in Kuningan and encourages infrastructure development as well as investment opportunities.

Acep mentioned that tourism is one of the leading sectors in the region.

“We have 14 well-established tourist attractions and dozens more that still need to be developed. We also have eight annual cultural events, four historic sites, 37 hotels and lodgings,” told Acep.

Several tourist attractions in Kuningan regency apart from Perundingan Linggarjati Building are Mount Ciremai National Park and waterfalls. Moreover, the place is known for its traditional dishes such as tapai ketan and jeniper and handicraft products.

With the opening of Tol Cikapali toll road, it currently only takes 3.5 hours to go to Kuningan from Jakarta.

The region will also open Tol Cisumdawu toll road and Kertajati International Airport in the near future. (kes)
