tate-owned telecommunication company PT Telekom Indonesia is set to increase Wi-Fi connectivity in tourist destinations across Indonesia with connection speeds of up to 100 megabytes per second (Mbps).
“Nowadays, being connected to the internet has become our primary need,” said Dicke Adhitya, the company's general manager for enterprise, tourism and hospitality, as quoted by kompas.com. “We want to support all sectors, including tourism,” he added.

Slated for launch on Dec. 29, the Wi-Fi connectivity program is said to include Wi-Fi corners and Wi-Fi stations, which serve as the rebranding of Telkom's broadband access network wifi.id, and was tested in 2016. The Wi-Fi corners reportedly would be placed in popular tourist destinations.
Last year, several tourist destinations offered Wi-Fi connectivity from Telkom, including Borobudur Temple, Ratu Boko Temple and Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta, as well as Jatim Park in East Java.
“For now [the upcoming program] will focus on destinations with high tourist density,” said Dicke. (wir/kes)
