The Banjarmasin administration in South Kalimantan has released an app to boost the popularity of river transportation and tourism.
As reported by Antara, the Go Kelotok app, launched on Wednesday, was part of the Banjarmasin Smart City program.
"Hopefully this app can provide another transportation option for the public, as well as fixed price; just like Go-Jek or Grab apps," said Banjarmasin Mayor H. Ibnu Sina on Wednesday.
The app also aims to preserve river transportation in the region. “River transportation serves as an important heritage of the city of Banjarmasin," said Ibnu.

Banjarmasin has 120 active rivers that could be used to provide an alternative transportation option. The administration reportedly plans to revitalize these rivers and repair the ports, not only to develop the transportation but also its tourism.
River cruise tourism is currently available using kelotok (motorboat), which provide a tour to houses near the riverbanks that show local culture.
The city reportedly has more than 80 kelotok used as tourist transportation along the Martapura River.
"Half of the kelotok drivers have joined the Go Kelotok app program," said Ibnu. (kes)
