he Tourism Ministry has put together several tour packages to offer to delegates to the Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – World Bank Group (WBG) 2018.
Some 15,000 delegates from 189 countries are expected to attend the event, which is to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from Oct. 8 to 14.
Seizing that opportunity, several travel packages will be offered to participants who want to extend their stay in the country.
“This move is part of our efforts to grab tourism opportunities for the Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) market segment,” Nia Niscaya, the ministry’s international marketing development head, said in a press release. “We’ve been very serious about promoting these packages since October 2017 and reselling them in April 2018 during the Spring Meeting.”

Tourists can choose from more than 60 packages to seven destinations: Bali, Lombok, Banyuwangi, Toba, Komodo-Flores, Sumba and Toraja, with trips from eight hours to four days. Some of the activities include a one-day tour in a private boat exploring Komodo Island and Pink Beach and learning about the history of the Karangasem Kingdom in Bali.
The ministry is currently promoting the packages at the Wonderful Journey, Wonderful Indonesia booth at the IMF-WBG Spring Meeting at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC. until April 22.
The promotion activities conducted there include a visualization of the seven aforementioned destinations in several places across Washington DC., such as Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom Station, through smart digital live-boards and publications in The Washington Post during the Spring Meeting.
