bout 95 percent of animals at Ragunan Zoo are on display during the Idul Fitri holidays, in a special exhibition held for 10 days from June 15 to 24.

The zoo’s unit head, Dina Himawati, told Antara news agency on Monday, “95 percent of the animals are healthy and ready to be exhibited. Our veterinarians are always monitoring their health.”

Dina says sick animals are immediately taken care of by the veterinarians and will not be displayed to the public.

“There are four new kangaroos from our exchange with Taru Jurug Zoo in Surakarta. They were exchanged with pelicans and deer,” Dina said.

Aside from the kangaroos, Ragunan Zoo also had an addition of one pangolin, bred by the zoo itself.

“We bred the pangolin ourselves and it was born last April. It’s not yet on display because we are monitoring its health,” Dina added. (asw)
