For example, some travelers plan their trips in order to experience flying on the A380, the world’s largest passenger airliner.

Here’s a look some of the services and amenities available on the newest planes flying the world’s skies this summer.

Airbus A380

Many airlines now operate this double-deck wide-body jet, launched in 2007, all kitted out to their own custom specifications. Designed as the world’s largest passenger airliner, the A380 is a plane of choice for many of the Middle Eastern airlines, whose most privileged passengers can travel in conditions worthy of a luxury hotel.

The most impressive amenities include an onboard suite with private bathroom on Etihad Airways, while Emirates has Shower Spas in its First Class cabin. Offering greater choice to fliers with more modest budgets, Lufthansa and Air France both operate A380s with four cabin classes, with separate Economy and Premium Economy sections.

For maximum space with minimal cost, Korean Air’s A380s have a low-density 301-seat Economy class out of a total 407 seats.

Airbus A350

Intended for long haul flights, the A350 claims to offer one of the quietest cabins as well as optimised air quality. Airbus’ recent long-haul aircraft has been picked up by a number of airlines including Air Mauritius, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Delta, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines.

However, only Singapore Airlines has ordered the company’s ultra long range version, the A350-900 ULR, which uses extra space in its tanks to carry extra fuel. Singapore Airlines will start flying its non-stop flights from the Asian city state to New York this October with the aircraft.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Norwegian, known for its low-cost long-haul fares, operates a host of transatlantic routes using Boeing’s latest aircraft. This mid-size wide-body plane promises improved fuel efficiency – one of the keys to driving down ticket prices. On board, optimised cabin pressure and humidity ensure passenger comfort, while seat windows are 65% larger than comparable planes, offering the largest windows in the market.

Air France and Japan Airlines also fly this latest-generation Boeing aircraft, which features turbulence-dampening technology.

Airbus A330neo

This direct rival for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the very latest commercial passenger jet for fliers to try. The wings of this latest generation A330-class aircraft have been redesigned, while the Rolls-Royce engines help push down fuel consumption. Passengers will be among the first to discover the star-like lighting effects on the cabin ceiling.

In fact, Airbus has completely overhauled the cabin interior so that passengers can stretch out their legs more easily. The overhead storage bins also increase in size. In the toilets, soothing ambient sounds and aroma dispensers ensure a relaxing experience.

Now it’s up to individual airlines to customise their aircraft before they take to the skies. TAP Portugal has already ordered the latest Airbus plane, along with WOW Air, Delta and Iran Air.
