T

he Tourism Ministry conducted the Wonderful Indonesia 2018 Golf Sales Mission in Seoul and Busan, South Korea, on Nov. 6-8, reported Antara.

This event was held to promote Indonesia’s golf tourism and attract more travelers from South Korea.

Nia Niscaya, the ministry’s undersecretary for marketing development II, stated that with this program, 420,000 South Korean tourists were expected to visit Indonesia until the end of this year, more than last year’s reported number of 378,769.

Nia said South Korean travelers tended to visit Indonesia for a definite purpose such as meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions (MICE) or sports tours, including golf. She believes that the vast mobility potential of tourists from South Korea has not been accommodated optimally, leading to the realization of this promotional event.

Indonesia has more than 150 golf courses across the country, with many of them meeting international standards, including those designed by retired golf champion Jack Nicklaus, renown golf course architects Bob Moore Jr and Ted Robinson.

“The golf fees in Indonesia are also low and competitive, and the caddy services are professional,” Nia went on to say.

The participating industries include golf courses from Bogor, Bali, Batam and Bintan, which are South Korean tourists’ favorite destinations. Garuda Indonesia and Vietnam Airline will also cooperate in improving accessibility between Indonesia and South Korea.

This event is the continuation of support and cooperation from Korean golf agent familiarization trips, such as Wonderful Indonesia’s promotion on golf tourism in Bogor, West Java, in August. (iru/mut)
