P

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has encouraged people to hike Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as it is said to be safe for travelers following multiple earthquakes that rocked the island in August.

“Let’s explore NTB, enjoy its natural landscapes, waterfalls and savanna along the way to the top of Mount Rinjani,” Jokowi said on his official Instagram account on Saturday.

Perlahan tapi pasti, Nusa Tenggara Barat mulai pulih setelah mengalami gempa bumi besar beberapa waktu lalu.

The President explained that the hiking trail from Aik Berik village in Central Lombok, one of four existing trails, had reopened last week. The other three routes are still closed due to severe damages.

“In short, Lombok is safe to visit. Travelers’ visits can also help the local economy, which was affected by the earthquake,” the post states. (wir/kes)
