It's stated "often", so not always. I believe that there are also lots of so called "peace" protests without violence. But since it is often not "interesting" for the media to report it, therefore we hardly find it in the news. That is also one of the reasons why lots of protests marked with violence: to get the intention! So, perhaps the media should start to report other protests which often not interesting but significant and peaceful.

This is because students are so full of the theory
of rights but have not learned the accompanying
theory of responsibilities. They are enjoying their
new-found freedoms, after leaving high school, but
have forgotten the discipline taught them in school.
Students causing violence and destruction of property
should be arrested and given quick trials. Terms of
imprisonment should be short, with small fines but
should be accompanied by corporal punishment as
in Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, for example. A
short sharp shock with the "rotan" will soon
put these young people back on the correct path.
