Unlike other airlines, AirAsia holds cabin photo contest

L

eading budget carrier AirAsia has organized a contest for cabin photos, the winners of which will be announced on July 24. AirAsia will present the winners with tickets to Lombok or Labuhan Bajo.

AirAsia asked all participants of the contest to follow Instagram account @airasia_bhsindonesia or Facebook page @airasia. Participants are required to upload their photos with the theme of "Happy moments of flying with AirAsia", with a “happy journey” caption of their own.  The photo contest runs from July 17 to 22.

The airline said two winners would be shortlisted. As their award, they can choose a free ticket from Jakarta to Lombok, or from Bali to Labuan Bajo.

AirAsia Indonesia’s corporate secretary , Baskoro Adiwiyono, confirmed the photo contest on Wednesday, saying that AirAsia would announce the winners on July 24.

“Participants can get details on the contest through our FB and IG," said Baskoro.

"Don’t hesitate to show your happiness while flying with #AirAsia. Joint our photo contest, and win free tickets to Lombok or Labuan Bajo!," AirAsia stated through a statement uploaded to its Facebook account on Wednesday.

AirAsia’s photo contest is being conducted amid the decision of other airlines to ban photos inside their cabins. Some airlines requested passengers not to take photos and videos inside cabins.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Group’s deputy CEO, Bo Lingam, underlined the importance of ensuring the comfort of all passengers. He said AirAsia was also trying to develop a platform with a super-application, following its exit from Traveloka’s ticketing system in March. As a result, passengers can only buy AirAsia tickets through its website alone. The airline plans to launch its new platform and application for AirAsia.com by the end of this year.

AirAsia Indonesia was set up in 1999 with the initial name of PT. AWAIR International. After changing its name to AirAsia, it also changed its business focus to the low-cost flights.

AirAsia Indonesia is known as a single-type airline as it only operates Airbus planes. It operates 25 A320-200s and is expecting an additional five by the end of the year to realize its passenger growth target of 20 percent. (*)
