What to do if an error occurs when uploading documents on Izin Tinggal Online

oday, people are increasingly familiar with online services, which are available in almost every sector. They can meet almost every need by using a smart phone, laptop or computer.
Foreign nationals and those responsible for handling immigration documents can use online services through Izin Tinggal Online at izintinggal-online.imigrasi.go.id, particularly during public activity restrictions (PPKM) in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, at times errors or system disruptions may occur, which can make foreign nationals and their sponsors worried, especially when realizing that their stay permit period will end soon.
If applicants encounter difficulty accessing Izin Tinggal Online or the website shows the comment “error”, don’t panic. First, check your internet connection and the size of document you are uploading. Make sure that your internet is stable and the document does not exceed the maximum allowable size. If needed, applicants can try to access the website on another device.
“If after another trial the website still doesn’t respond, the applicants can screen capture the page that shows the error. After that, [they can] contact the related immigration office to report the issue. Later, the applicants can consult with an officer to apply for their stay permit at the immigration office,” said the Immigration Directorate General’s public relations subdivision head Achmad Nur.
This alternative is specially designed for applicants who repeatedly face technical difficulties in applying for a stay permit through Izin Tinggal Online. It is unnecessary for applicants who manage to fill in the data and submit the documents to visit the immigration office until level 4 PPKM end. The foreign national’s biometric data will be taken when the immigration office resumes full operation.
“The online stay permit extension also applies to foreign nationals who stay overseas. During the pandemic period, the sponsor of a foreign national who temporary stay permit (ITAS) or a permanent stay permit (ITAP) can apply for extension online or offline. If done online, the guarantor will receive notification of payment by e-mail after the document is verified by the officer,” Achmad explained.
He also said that the foreigner had to go to the immigration office 30 days from their arrival in Indonesia at the latest. “This is required to apply for a stay permit that the guarantor has extended,” he remarked.
