An 18-year-old student has been sentenced to four years of imprisonment over a student brawl that left one person dead in Serpong, South Tangerang, in July.
At a hearing at the Tangerang District Court on Monday, judge Tuty Haryati said the student, FF, had committed the serious crime of murder and spread fear among society.
However, the judge also said that, as FF had been underage at the time, it was expected that he could be guided into a better life.
Prosecutor Shinta Ratnaningsih said the prosecution side was waiting to see whether FF’s lawyers would appeal the sentence was mulling its own response.
“We are still thinking [about whether to file for an appeal]. We still have seven days,” she said, as quoted by tempo.co.
FF, a student of vocational high school Bhipuri Serpong, was arrested following a violent brawl on July, 31 on Jl. Raya Puspiptek, Serpong. The brawl was between his school and students from vocational high school Sasmita Jaya 1.
