How to get there
Similar to the Kemang neighborhood, Jl. Ampera Raya is not easily reached by public transportation. Hence, those wanting to visit Jl. Ampera Raya are advised to use private vehicles, taxis or ride-hailing services, such as Go-Jek, Uber or Grab.
However, the Kopaja bus line 605A from Blok M Terminal is an alternative way to visit the area for those insisting on public transportation.
What to wear
Jl. Ampera Raya is filled with family-friendly restaurants, hence, a casual outfit, such as T-shirt and jeans, is acceptable.
What to do
ANRI is among the landmarks of Jl. Ampera Raya. The building is open for those keen to take a look at the national archives. History buffs may learn about Indonesia’s history by checking out the dioramas.
If you’re planning a wedding, you might want to have a look at Rumah Kriya Asri or Omah Pawon. The former is an up-and-coming spot for garden wedding parties, while Omah Pawon is a popular outdoor venue for lovebirds wanting to hold a Javanese wedding reception.

Jl. Ampera Raya also hosts the Kemang Medical Care Mother and Children hospital. In addition to a maternity unit, the hospital is recognized for its fertility clinic and lactation consultants.
Meanwhile, music aficionados can drop by the Rolling Stone Café for a live performance.
What to eat
Coming from Jl. Kemang Timur, you will see Komunal88. Here, food lovers can sample Italian dishes, such as spicy risotto with crispy chicken and four cheeses gnocchi, or devour a French croissant, chocolate Danish or madeleine, while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.
Aside from Komunal88, Jl. Ampera Raya hosts numerous Indonesian restaurants, such as Raja Rasa, Raja Konro Daeng Naba and Bakmi Jogja Mbah Surip.
Offering Sundanese delicacies, Raja Rasa is a convenient spot to hold a family gathering, as the restaurant’s complex is quite spacious.
Meanwhile, those wanting to sample Makassar-style beef ribs can drop by Raja Konro Daeng Naba. Here, meat lovers can try the iconic sop konro (beef ribs soup) or konro bakar (grilled ribs).
Furthermore, toward Jl. Letjen T.B. Simatupang, visitors to Jl. Ampera Raya will discover a small stall called Bakmi Jogja Mbah Surip. With its humble appearance, this place is very different from Raja Rasa and Raja Konro Daeng Naba. However, the late food critic Bondan Winarno did include the bakmi jawa (Javanese-style noodle dish) that the stall offers in his eatery guide 100 Mak Nyus Jakarta, suggesting it's worth a visit.
- The sidewalks are narrow and uneven, so be careful when walking.
- Since Jl. Ampera Raya houses office buildings, the area is usually packed during working hours. Hence, those wanting to explore the area are recommended to come during weekends. (kes)
