Two hundred e-commerce players are slated to participate in National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) from Dec. 12-14.

Under the motto “Indonesia Online”, the event aims not only to advance the ecosystem of the e-commerce industry, but also to educate potential consumers about the convenience and security of conducting online transactions, the head of the event's committee, Miranda Suwanto, told tempo.co.

Lazada, Zalora, elevenia, MatahariMall.com, Blibli.com, Bukalapak, Alfacart.com, ShopBack and Berrybenka.com are among the e-commerce firms taking part in Harbolnas. With 35 percent more online stores participating this year compared to last year, Miranda anticipates a surge in the number of customers and in transaction value.

Participating stores are set to offer special discounts and good deals to consumers during the period of the event. Regarding payments, Miranda said Harbolnas would be fully supported by BCA and mainly sponsored by the Midtrans payment gateway.

Miranda expressed her hope that the event would inspire and advance the e-commerce industry, which includes telecommunication providers and companies offering services in banking, payments and logistics. "Hopefully it can support the government’s efforts to advance the e-commerce industry of the nation," she added. (mra/kes)
