T

he second installment of the United Kingdom/Indonesia (UK/ID) Festival is set to run from Oct. 17 to 22 at The Establishment, Lot 6, SCBD, South Jakarta.

Similar to last year, the event is hosted by the British Council in Indonesia, the UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities and set to showcase art collaboration between Indonesia and the UK.

The 2017 UK/ID Festival will feature 54 art organizations and artists from both countries, showcasing a plethora of events and activities, such as musical performances, film screenings, visual exhibitions and installations, talk shows and more.

Themed “Come Together”, the six-day event is slated to open with the Indonesian premier of Morrissey biopic England is Mine, as well as a collaborative music performance between London-based electronic musician Chloe Martini and local singer Neonomora.

Supported by the Culture and Education Ministry, the festival is said to be part of the three-year “UK/Indonesia 2016-18” program, which was launched during President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo's visit to the UK in April 2016, aiming to build connections through residencies, networking and cultural visits and collaboration projects.

“This festival is charged by the youthful spirit of the UK and Indonesia; a celebration of the amazing things that can happen when talented people from very different origins come together to share ideas and creativity,” British Council in Indonesia country director Paul Smith said in a press release.
