Indonesian jazz pianist Joey Alexander will perform at the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony on Aug. 18.
ifteen-year-old jazz pianist Joey Alexander is one of several Indonesian artists scheduled to perform at the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex in Central Jakarta on Aug. 18.
Wishnutama, the creative director of the opening and closing ceremonies, did not provide details on the ceremony but said it would showcase Indonesia's diversity and live up to the Asian Games “Energy of Asia” slogan.

Joey, Wishnutama said, captured the Energy of Asia spirit. “He was nominated at the 2017 Grammy Awards, setting a very high standard for all musicians, especially as Joey is still very young,” he told Antara news agency.
Joey is set to perform during the opening ceremony alongside Anggun, Via Vallen, Raisa, Edo Kondologit, Rossa and other artists.
The ceremony, which is expected to attract an audience of over 42,000, will feature music and dance performances from provinces throughout the archipelago. (wir/kes)
