Wellington concert to highlight Indonesia-New Zealand friendship
The Symphony of Friendship will feature a unique marriage of Eastern Indonesian music and the traditional music of New Zealand’s indigenous Maori people.

The Indonesian Embassy in New Zealand is set to hold a concert at the Opera House in Wellington, New Zealand, on Friday.
The Symphony of Friendship will feature a unique marriage of Eastern Indonesian music and the traditional music of New Zealand’s indigenous Maori people.
Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand Tantowi Yahya said the event was part of a wider effort to strengthen Indonesia’s ties with New Zealand and other Pacific countries.
“We will give special attention to students studying in Wellington, so they can watch this concert because they are our hope in strengthening Indonesia-New Zealand relations in the future,” Tantowi said in a statement on Wednesday as quoted by tempo.co.

Three Indonesian singers are slated to perform at the concert: Edo Kondologit, Gita Gutawa and Andmesh Kamaleng. They will be joined by Maori singers Maisey Rika and Tama Waipara.
Indonesian composer Erwin Gutawa will serve as conductor of the orchestra.
Some 1,300 guests are slated to attend, half of whom are students from high schools across Wellington. (iru/kes)
