Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair dies at 40

The actor was best known for his role as Eddy in Gol & Gincu and was married to Indonesian actress-singer Bunga Citra Lestari.

It has been reported that Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair died of a heart attack on Tuesday morning in Jakarta.

Ashraf was the husband of Indonesian actress-singer Bunga Citra Lestari, known as BCL. They were married in 2008 and have a son, Noah Aidan Sinclair.

The actress' manager, Doddy, confirmed Sinclair's death with kompas.com by digital message, and that the actor had died at around 4 a.m.

Born in London in 1979 to a British father and a Malay mother, Sinclair was popular in both Malaysia and Indonesia. He first gained recognition for his role as Eddy in the Malaysian romantic film, Gol & Gincu.

He starred in many movies and television dramas throughout his career,  including Saus Kacang (2008) alongside his wife and the soap opera series Pashmina Aisha (2014) and Catatan Hati Seorang Istri (2014).

In addition to acting, Ashraf was also an entrepreneur and had established various businesses, including a restaurant, a gym and a content production agency. (jes)
