JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will visit Darussalam modern Islamic boarding school in Gontor, Ponorogo, on Wednesday as part of his Ramadan tour of East Java.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, will arrive in Gontor at around 4 p.m. to break fast with school leader Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi and some 25,000 others, including students of the school, which was founded in 1926.
Yudhoyono will later take part in a Teraweh evening prayer at the school before returning to Madiun regency, where he will stay at Merdeka Hotel, Antara news agency reported.
On Wednesday before leaving for Gontor, the President will visit state railway manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api in Madiun after departing from Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma airbase.
On Thursday, the presidential entourage will leave Madiun for the neighboring regency of Nganjuk to hold talks with local farmers and traders of agriculture products. -- JP
