JAKARTA: Famous mentalist Deddy Corbuzier’s marriage came close to ending recently when his wife, Kalina Oktarani, filed for divorce. But in a more cheerful turn of events, the couple have settled their problems out of court and decided to stick together.

Kalina’s lawyer Ferry Amahorsea says that her client and Deddy forgave each other after sitting down for some serious talks and had agreed to turn over a new leaf.

“Maybe both were emotional and selfish, but everything was solved,” says Ferry, as quoted by newsportal.

“They both also had the good intention of forgiving each other,” he adds.

Deddy and Kalina were scheduled to attend their first divorce hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday. However, the trial was suspended after Kalina decided to retract the divorce petition.

Ferry didn’t explain why Kalina filed for divorce in July, but he did deny the allegation that the move was made as a way to boost Deddy’s popularity.

“That’s not true. Deddy is already popular,” Ferry says. “What happened [between the two] was truly a family problem.”

Deddy and Kalina married in February 2005 after dating for four years. Kalina, who was a model and Deddy’s assistant in his shows, gave birth to a baby boy named Askanio Nikola Corbuzier in 2006. — JP
