ANGERANG: A Marine sky diver plunged to his death on Monday after his parachute failed to deploy during an exercise.

The body of First. Sgt. Wahyu Dilianto, 40, was found on the roof of a house in the Griya Mulya Tama housing complex in Pamulang, South Tangerang.

Police said in a statement that the victim suffered serious injuries to his head, neck and arms. The remains of the victim were taken to the Tangerang General Hospital.

Eyewitness Nursiyah said that she was doing her chores at home when she heard a thud from the roof.

She later found Wahyu on the roof with severe wounds.

“His neck was bleeding. His lower body was badly injured and I believed he had already died,” Nursiyah said.

Another eyewitness, Asmat, said that the victim was seen failing to deploy his parachute and free-fell at high velocity. — JP
