EMARANG: Semarang will be the host of an interfaith meeting in Asia Pacific on March 11-13, with participants expected from 15 countries.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Interfaith Dialog, which was initiated by New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines, aims to promote cooperation through effective communication among different creeds.
The event is also seeking to provide comprehensive understanding about religious tolerance and respect.
“It will be the sixth such meeting with Indonesia acting as host country for the second time, after it was held in Yogyakarta in 2004,” the director general for information and public diplomacy at the Foreign Ministry, A.M. Fachir, said in Semarang on Friday.
The Philippines, New Zealand, Cambodia and Australia are the other countries to have hosted the event.
