olkar Party Jakarta branch chairman Priya Ramadhani has been appointed Jakarta Legislative Council deputy speaker, replacing Inggard Joshua, who has resigned.

Council speaker Ferryal Sofyan officially announced Inggard's resignation and Priya's appointment during a plenary session at the council building on Monday.

"Priya Ramadhani has been appointed as deputy speaker candidate. According to regulations, a council decree on Inggard's resignation and Priya's appointment will be forwarded to the home minister for official approval," Ferryal said.

Inggard, who submitted his resignation in March, was a Golkar politician. He resigned from his post to join the NasDem Party, one of the few new parties cleared to field candidates in the election next year. Inggard has been appointed secretary of the NasDem Jakarta provincial board. (dic)
