ducation and Culture Minister Mohammad Nuh has guaranteed that junior high schools across the nation will hold the national examinations (UN) simultaneously on Monday despite minor problems that appeared just days before the scheduled start date.

Nuh told the press on Sunday that his ministry had taken measures to prevent mistakes that occurred in preparation for the senior high school exams from being repeated.

'Insya Allah [God willing], exams will take place simultaneously at junior high schools nationwide tomorrow [Monday]. The materials have been sent to all provinces. I have even checked with the printing companies, particularly PT Ghalia earlier today [Sunday], to ensure they have completed their jobs,' Nuh said at his office.

Ghalia, one of six printing companies contracted to distribute exams materials for both senior and junior high schools, was said to have been blamed for exams delay in 11 provinces for its failure to pack materials on-time.

The ministry annulled 10 out of 11 contracts won by Ghalia, allowing it to only manage exam materials in Bali. Contracts for the other 10 provinces were given to Ghalia's competitors PT Pura, PT Temprina and PT Jaswindo.

Nuh said he was confident that there would be no problems this week, as the ministry and its partners had worked to ensure the exams would run smoothly.

'I even went to several provinces to make sure the materials were distributed. Let's see the proof tomorrow [Monday],' he said.

Jakarta Education Agency head Taufik Yudi Mulyanto confirmed on Sunday that all UN materials for junior high schools had been distributed to all five municipalities in the city and Thousand Islands regency.

'Praise God, we have just completed distributing exam materials to UN posts in five municipalities and Thousand Islands over the past two days,' Taufik told The Jakarta Post, adding that the materials would be distributed to schools early on Monday.

Meanwhile, minor hiccups had affected the distribution of exam materials in several areas not far from the capital city.

UN committee members in Depok discovered a number of exam sheet packages intended for Sumedang and Cimahi in West Java that were mistakenly sent to Depok.

Meanwhile, Depok Education Agency junior high school division head Rida Fahrudin said that exam material packages for Depok had been delivered to Bogor. He said the error would not disturb the exams.

Exams in Makassar, South Sulawesi, will also start on Monday despite not having received all exam materials, said provincial education agency head Abdullah Jabbar.

'We have received all materials for Indonesian, math and English,' he said. Science exam materials were expected to arrive on Sunday evening with plenty of time for distribution.

The Gorontalo Education, Youth and Sports Agency head, Arfan Arsyad, said that all materials had arrived and were distributed.

'Unlike the national exams for senior high schools, all materials for the junior high schools have arrived on-time,' he said.

In Medan, North Sumatra Education Agency head Muhammad Zein stated that the UN would take place as scheduled on Monday as all exam materials had been distributed.

'Hopefully the junior high UN will go without a hitch as we have distributed all materials, including to remote schools in Nias Island,' he told the Post on Sunday.
