WISCI reaches JCA finals

efending Champion WISCI became the first team to enter the 'Cup' finals after beating Fez Rebels on Sunday in the Apple Coal JCA League 2012-2013.

Despite the defeat, the Rebels still have a chance to make the finals if they can overcome Bogor.

WISCI beat Fez Rebels by 31 runs at Cibubur. Batting first, WISCI found itself in a spot of bother at 48/3 in 12 overs, before recovering to 160/3 in 24 overs and finally posting a competitive 208.

Viraj Bhammar came up with another half century (80) and was ably supported by Captain JP Le Riche (62). Drew Styles picked up 4 wickets and Marten Eddy took 3.

Fez Rebels started slowly putting on 30/2 in 12 overs and 96/4 in 24 overs, before being restricted to 177/8 in 35 overs. Amol Singhal made 78 while Steve Lyons made 50. Rajeev Rajeswaran and Tim 'Bomber' Watson took 3 wickets each.

At the Gandhi ground, Bogor steamrolled Senayan Lions by 7 wickets in a one sided contest. Batting first, Senayan lost its way from a 71/2 in 12 overs to be all out for 163 runs in 32 overs.

Rajeev Ramnarayan (36) and Amrith Mandook (32) were the main scorers. Asghar Ali took 4 wickets while Anjar took 2 wickets. Bogor was ruthless in the run chase, reaching the victory target in just 18 overs, losing only 3 wickets. Asghar Ali blasted an unbeaten 75 and Hanan was unbeaten on 26. Ashit Mehta took 2 wickets.

In a low scoring contest, Menara and Senayan Tigers reached the 'Plate' quarterfinals.

Menara beat Emerio by 5 wickets at Cibubur. Batting first, Emerio was shot out for a paltry 82 in 23 overs, with Hemant making 20 of the total.

Atul Kakkar and Gajendra took 4 wickets apiece. Menara's run chase started badly losing 3 wickets for 18 runs in 8 overs. Rikesh Parikh top scored with 34 runs while Deepak Khullar remained unbeaten on 14 runs. Anant Bhake took 3 wickets.

Senayan Tigers edged out UFCC by 21 runs in a closely fought match at Karawaci. Batting first, Tigers made a healthy 213/9 in 33 overs, with Yeri making 57 and Febrian making 42 runs.

Rajeev Kumar & Sohail took 3 wickets each. UFCC was well in the run chase till 24 overs making 143/4 with veteran Papaji Subhash Modgil at crease. But UFCC lost its way after Papaji's dismissal for 81 runs, and ended up at 192 runs. Yeri took 4 wickets while Meleven and Maulana snapped 2 wickets each. ' JP
