raffic accidents might be a familiar sight for Jakartans on their daily commute to and from work. But have they wondered how many black spots, locations where crashes constantly occur, there are in Jakarta?

According to Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate chief of operations, Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto, there are 87 black spots in the capital and its satellite cities and 90 percent of the crashes occur due to human error and bad infrastructure. The police recorded 8,114 and 8,020 accidents respectively in those 87 black spots in 2011 and 2012.

These are the five black spots with the highest record of accidents in the last two years, so Jakartans need to approach them with care:

Jl. Raya Cakung Cilincing, North Jakarta

Bad infrastructure like potholes in the road is one important factor behind the high number of accidents on Jl. Raya Cakung Cilincing.

There were 31 accidents on the road in 2012, leaving eight dead, one severely injured and 26 slightly injured. According to data from the police, 13 accidents have occurred from January to March this year. North Jakarta has the highest number and largest vehicles of Jakarta's municipalities.

Jl. DI Panjaitan, East Jakarta

This street claimed one life, two severe injuries and 17 slight injuries during 2012 in 20 traffic accidents.

While for 2013, from January to March, the street recorded two accidents. Bad infrastructure, just like Jl. Raya Cikung Cilincing's problem, has contributed to the high number of accidents occurring.

Jl. Raya Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta

The police in 2012 recorded 18 accidents in this street with three dead, seven severely injured and 14 slightly injured.

While in 2013 from January to March, the trend in accidents has declined to only one reported. ' JP
