ducation and Culture Minister M Nuh apologized on Thursday for the recent debacle over the national examinations for high school students during a speech at the launch of National Education Day in Jakarta.

Students in 11 provinces were forced to sit their exams late due to delays in the shipment of exam materials last month. One of the companies that won the tender to print and distribute the materials,
PT Ghalia Indonesia Printing, failed to meet the deadline, thereby leading to the delay.

'On behalf of the Education and Culture Ministry, I apologize for the troubles regarding the national exams for high school students this year,' Nuh said as quoted by Antara news agency.

He added that the incident served as a valuable lesson to provide better educational services for all.

Nuh said that education was for everyone; therefore, students should not have been distinguished based on social status or geographical location. (nai)
