AMBI: The Jambi administration plans to relocate the indigenous Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community of Bungo descent to a new area in Pasir Putih, Dwi Karya hamlet, Pelepat district.
'This is an instruction from the Jambi governor. The relocation is aimed at providing the community with a better place to live,' said Jambi's Social, Manpower and Transmigration Agency head, Harris AB.
According to agency data, a total of 53 families comprising 207 people will be relocated.
So far, the people live in scattered areas across Jambi, including Dwi Karya, Bukit Telago, Rantel Pelepat, Bedaro, Limbur Lubuk Mengkuang, Tebora and Tanjung Bungo.
'We will also assume the responsibility for their daily living costs for up to three years after their move to the new area. As soon as the land acquisition process is completed, we will propose a budget to fund the community's cost of living through the APBD [regional budget],' he added.
The head of the Social, Manpower and Transportation Agency in Bungo regency, Jambi province, Tommy Usman, said that his office was handling the acquisition process of the new area for the indigenous community.
