The House of Representatives has officially sacked Democratic Party lawmaker Angelina Sondakh from her legislative position.
The House leadership on Monday swore in Angelina's replacement, Surya Kusumanegara.
"I hope you focus on your job as a lawmaker and abide by the code of ethics for House members," House Speaker Marzuki Alie said in his speech during the swearing-in ceremony.
The Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Angelina to four-and-a-half-years in prison for accepting bribes.
Angelina was found guilty for accepting more than Rp 34.90 billion (US$3.6 million) in kickbacks from Permai Group, a holding company belonging to convict M. Nazaruddin, in exchange for projects run by the Youth and Sports Ministry (the construction of the athletes village for last year's SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra) and the Education and Culture Ministry (projects at 16 state universities).
Also on Monday, the House also swore in former Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) chairman Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq's replacement, PKS politician Budiyanto.
Luthfi was named a suspect in the beef import scandal by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
