T

he parents of 5-year-old F have demanded for the police to discharge a Mobile Brigade policeman currently standing trial for having allegedly sexually abused their child.

MH, the mother, said that her son was suffering from trauma from the sex abuse allegedly committed in February.

'He should be discharged after his court confession. My child screams in his sleep every night,' she told reporters at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Monday.

She also said that her husband almost lost his job because they insisted to seek justice for their only child.

The policeman, identified as First Insp. E, and a construction worker identified as IS, are currently standing trial at the East Jakarta District Court for the alleged repeated abuse of the boy.

The policeman lived near the family's house in Ciracas, East Jakarta.

The mother grew suspicious when she noticed physical and behavioral changes in her child who later filed reports to the police and the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA).

The police referred the family to the Sukanto Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, for a medical examination. Results indicated no irregularities, but a follow-up at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta found evidence of repeated rectal sexual assaults.

According to a statement made by the child to his mother, the perpetrators usually threatened him with a knife while
assaulting him.

The neighbors accused the family of being liars and forced them to leave the neighborhood until the commission accompanied them back home.

MH said she felt alone and that she only had the help of a legal aid institution that informed her of court dates.

Separately, a librarian from the East Jakarta public library was arrested on Monday after being accused of sexually harassing an 8-year-old girl.

The parents of the girl reported that FS, 18, put his hand on their child's thigh and forced her to take off her skirt when she visited the library with a friend and relatives. The alleged victim's father went to the library and hit FS before reporting the case to the police.
