hief Justice Muhammad Hatta Ali installed former finance minister Agus Martowardojo as the new Bank Indonesiagovernor for the 2013-2018 term at the Supreme Court building in Jakartaon Friday.
Agus was sworn in under Presidential Decree No. 45/2013, replacing Darmin Nasution who has retired.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Boediono, Cabinet ministers, several banking directors, former Bank Indonesiagovernors and other high-ranking officials.
At a press conference after the ceremony, Agus disclosed that he would put much emphasis on strengthening monetary policy and financial stability as well as ensuring the smooth transition of monitoring functions tothe Financial Services Authority (OJK).
He said he would also boost the efficiency of the national payment system and strengthen Bank Indonesia'scentral function in sharia banking, kompas.com reported. (fan)
