heoperator of Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong, West Papua decided to suspendflights due to mass rally staged in front of the airport since this morning. Theprotestors, local land owners, demanded compensation for land used to build theairport.

'Police personnel were deployed to safeguard the protest,' National police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said on Wednesday.

He said the airport's management was discussing the compensation package.

Domine Eduard Osok Airport opened in 2012 and is the largest and busiest airport in West Papua.(dic)
