Former National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) treasurer Comr. Legimo Pudjo Sumarto said on Friday that he was often instructed by former Korlantas chief Ir. Gen. Djoko Susilo to manage his financial
transactions.

Testifying at Djoko's trial, Legimo claimed that his former boss asked him to pay hefty amounts of money to several people, including Djoko's gardener.

'There were multiple payments to Nana Suryana, Djoko's gardener. I would give up to Rp 300 million (US$30,600) in a single payment. But I forgot how many times (I made payments),' he said before the Jakarta Corruption Court in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Besides that, Djoko also asked him to pay for the construction of Djoko's house in Surakarta, Central Java, added Legimo.

Your comments:

Since illegally obtained funds should be seized by the state, the Rp 300 million Djoko gave
to his gardener should also be confiscated. Stolen goods never bring blessings.

Last week, Nury Vittachi imagined an Asia where toilet cleaners are paid more than prime ministers, causing them to switch jobs. The reality is upon us ' a gardener is paid more than a police chief. Maybe it's time for gardeners to become police chiefs and police chiefs to become gardeners.

Are you the treasurer of the traffic corps or the personal treasurer (of Djoko)?' asked the panel. 'Yes', Legimo replied.

This is the clearest account of a police official in court exemplifying how financial matters within the police force are managed. It happens everywhere ' ask our police friend in Bali, who shared some beers with a tourist after receiving bribes.

A question: 'Are you the treasurer of the traffic corps or personal treasurer' is thereby confusing ... as is the answer.
