A

violent clash between two groups of youths in Kalipasir, Central Jakarta, on Friday claimed one life, apolice officer said. The situation has since been brought under control.

'The clash started when a group of Madura youths felt bothered by an intoxicated Betawi youth.  They clashed and one person, a local by the name of Rifki, was killed,' Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said Friday as quoted by kompas.com.

Rikwanto added that the police had detained a youth by the name of Masduki on murder charges.  He said if proven guilty, Masduki could face seven years in prison.

Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo visited the site and discussed
the situation with officers at the scene. Jokowi, unlike his usual self, remained silent the entire time and avoided journalists.
