Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (EEPIS) beat out Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) to win the overall title of 2013 National Robotics Competition in Semarang on Sunday.
EEPIS deputy director Indra Adji Sulistijono remarked that the victory was due to a strong sense of cohesiveness among the institutes students who had previously hoped to gain entry to more popular schools.
"There were 25 students from EEPIS who took part in the event, with 14 on government scholarships since their families are poor," he said. "We are sharpening the students' skill to the best of our ability."
According to Indra, the institute expects to keep winning the competition in the future, since they already have won the title 13 of 15 times. "We want to keep up the championship tradition," he added.
The event was held by Dian Nuswantoro University and participated in by 55 universities from all over the country. The the winning university will represent Indonesia at the international level. (fan)
