ngga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputra failed to continue their recent winning form as the young Indonesian pair exited the tournament early on Wednesday.

They came to the tournament buoyed by their victories in Australia and New Zealand but had to abandon their dreams of adding another laurel after they bowed out to Chinese Taipei's Lee Seng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin 21-17, 21-16.

Angga/Rian appeared to lose their composure with them flopping in their attempts to return the shuttlecocks several times. That gifted their opponents with points.

Angga/Rian started the second game impressively, pulling their away ahead by scoring five points on the trot.

However the Taipei's players showed their persistent game to equal the score at 11-11 at the break. Back to the court, Angga/Rian continued to fall to a string of mistakes as their opponents rounded the match with a 21-16 win.

Rian acknowledged that they failed to control the shuttlecock due to the strong wind inside the air-conditioned stadium.

Lee Seng Mu said they played without too much difficulty against the winners of the New Zealand Badminton Open.

'They are still young and still lacking in experience,' he said.

He added that playing before the home crowd might have put a burden on their shoulders, while they felt the opposite.

Unseeded pair Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki/Hendra Aprida Gunawan also crashed out but other home pairs went through.

Yonathan/Hendra were beaten by third seeds Koo Kien Keat/Boo Hock Ong of Malaysia 21-15, 21-11.

Indonesia's Ricky Karanda Suwardi/Muhammad Ulinnuha advanced to the next round after their Korean opponents abandoned their match because of injury when the former led 4-1.

Another unseeded pair Andrei Adistia/Markus Fernaldi Gideon put up an impressive performance in defeating more fancied Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong 10-21, 21-18, 21-15.

Local favorites Markis Kido/Alvent Yulianto marched through at the expense of fellow Indonesians, winning 21-18, 21-14, 21-14 over Rendra Wijaya/Sukmawan Rian.

Muhammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan returned to court after resting for a few months due to Ahsan's hip injury. Having skipped the Asian Championships and India Open Superseries they showed on Wednesday that they were back in business by dispatching home fourth-seeded Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan 20-22, 21-18, 21-18 over.

In the women's doubles, Anneke Feinya Agustin/Della Destiara Hari, seventh-seeded Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth/Rizki Amelia Praditpa and Gebby Ristiyani Imawan/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah also advanced to the second round.
