dj.First Insp. Labora Sitorus, a police officer who was in the spotlight recently fora suspiciously fat-bank account, is currently undergoing treatment at theBhayangkara Police Hospital in Jayapura due to an arthritic complication.
Family representative, Rev. Charles Simaremare, said the family hoped the police would change Labora's detention status to enable him to receive medical treatment from a more specialist hospital. He also added that because the police had frozen Labora's bank accounts 300 employees had not yet receive their wages.
Labora has been charged with illegal logging, hording fuel and money laundering. The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) discovered the surprisingly huge bank balance, which from 2007-2012 amounted to Rp 1.5 trillion. PPATK decided the transactions did not fit Labora's profile as a police officer and handed the case to the Papua police to investigate. (dic)
