The Cilacap Police have announced the arrest of three men for allegedly stockpiling 875 liters of subsidized fuels, Premium and Solar.
'The arrests originated from reports made by residents about a suspicious transaction at a gas station,' Cilacap Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wawan Muliawan said as quoted by tempo.co on Tuesday.
He said the police had also confiscated one motorbike, dozens of crates for jerry cans, and Rp 950,000 (US$96.14) in cash.
The three suspects were identified as Slamat Napitu, Suharjo Liwon and Tursan. Slamat and Suharjo are manager and employee, respectively, of shipping company PT DPS.
The police said that Slamat and Suharjo instructed Tursan to buy fuel from the Jetis village gas station in Nusawungu subdistrict, Cilacap," Wawan said.
'We found out that the fuel was going to be used for excavators and other heavy vehicles at a mining site,'
The three suspects, who are currently in police custody, have been charged under Law No. 22/2001 on gas and oil, which carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a Rp 60 billion fine. (hrl/dic)
