The Indonesian Composite Index (IHSG) plunged by 2.94 percent to 4,665.24 during the first trading session on Thursday.
Kontan.co.id reported 240 stocks declined while only 30 booked positive results and 46 remained unchanged.
The transaction volume stood at 2.11 billion shares worth Rp 3.13 trillion.
Nine sectors were in the red zone with the main three consisting of the finance sector with 4.13 percent of decline, construction with 3.52 percent and basic industries with 3.23 percent.
Some of the top losers were PT Permata Prima Sakti Tbk (TKGA) down by 13.04 percent to Rp 1,200, PT Verena Multi Finance Tbk (VRNA) down by 12 percent to Rp 110 and PT Island Concepts Indonesia Tbk (ICON) down by 9.33 percent to Rp 340.
Some of the top gainers were PT Gunawan Dianjaya Steel Tbk (GDST) up by 29.59 percent to Rp 127, PT Polychem Indonesia Tbk (ADMG) 24.44 percent to Rp 280, and PT Asia Pacific Fibers Tbk (POLY) 18.71 percent to Rp 165.
