A

n internal affairs officer at the Semarang Police, Second Adj. Insp. Ariyawan, was questioned on Wednesday for allegedly using drugs.

Semarang Police chief Elan Subilan said Ariyawan's urine tested positive for drugs.

'He is [also] a drug dealer. We have repeatedly put him in rehab and told him to keep off drugs, but to no avail. This time around, we had to arrest him,' said Elan, adding that Ariyawan could face disciplinary action and ethics sanctions for his misconduct.

Separately, director of the drugs directorate division at Central Java Police, Sr. Comr. John Turman said his officers were still investigating if Ariyawan was linked to a certain drugs network.

The presumption is that Ariyawan is affiliated with First Insp. Hendro PW, who is currently on trial on a drug case at the Semarang District.
