akarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is gearing up for the all around development of Jakarta, predominantly in the spheres of education, infrastructure and traffic management. He is planning an additional budget for education.

He is planning to acquire private schools that are either closed or on the brink of closure due to a lack of funds.

He wants to manage these acquired schools as city-owned, administered by the education authority.

My feeling is that Jakarta needs information technology (IT) education more than normal education.

Spending should be directed more to the purchase of computers and kids should be taken from their mother's lap and onto laptops if our country has a chance of competing with developed countries.

Many teachers teaching IT in some of the schools do not know the fundamentals of computers themselves.

Teaching staff should be screened and those who are experienced should be appointed.
