n official with the Immigration Office at Soekarno-HattaInternational Airport said on Friday that its computer system had yet to berepaired since a breakdown had occurred on Monday.
'As of today, we are still looking into the cause of the problem. Our IT staff is still working on it,' said office head Effendi Saragih.
He acknowledged that the office had a backlog of at least 150 passport applications and other immigration documents.
'We only use online system for the application process. When the system goes off line, we have to wait until things return to normal,' he said, suggesting applicants submit their applications to other immigration offices.
Elia, a resident of Neglasari district, Tangerang municipality, said on Friday that she only learned about the system failure upon her arrival at the office.
'The office should have announced it earlier,' she said.
Effendi said the office had made an announcement on its website kanim-soetta.info.
