residential candidate Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said he hoped that the campaign machinery of all coalition parties was being 'warmed up' in readiness for the presidential election.
He was speaking during an Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) coordination meeting at its headquarters on Jl. Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.
'We are holding a consolidation meeting with representatives from the party's regional executive branches. We've never met them before. We want all campaign machines to start moving. We will tell you later about the results,' said Jokowi as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The non-active Jakarta governor further said he did not want to see consolidation meetings without concrete results. He said he wanted all the elements of the PDI-P-led coalition, from central officials to grassroots volunteers; to immediately move on the duties set.
'Why do people really love meetings? We are not like that. We have our own strategy [to win the election]. We don't follow what other people do. I don't like that,' said Jokowi.
Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla, his running mate, received the official number two for ballots during the election number draw on Sunday.
The PDI-P- lead coalition includes the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Hanura Party. Collectively, they secured 207, or 36.96 percent, of the seats at the House of Representatives. (fss/ebf)
