Diversified conglomerate PT Astra International is set to operate the first section of the Mojokerto-Kertosono toll road in East Java later this month, to be used by Idul Fitri travelers.
'A trial will be carried out on the toll road, which will be officiated on around July 20,' Astra head of investor relations Tira Ardianti said recently as quoted by kontan.co.id.
The 40.5-kilometer toll road ' which is being constructed by Marga Harjaya Infrastruktur, a subsidiary of Astra International's subsidiary Astratel Nusantara ' will have three sections.
The first section of the toll road will stretch 15 km from Kertosono to Jombang, while the second and third sections will be 20 km and 5 km in length, respectively. Construction of the second and third sections will be completed by November at the earliest, Astra International director Paulus Bambang Widjanarko Eddy said previously.
Up to 23,000 vehicles per day are expected to use the Rp 1.8 trillion (US$154.3 million) toll road.
