he 18th-century Boen Tek Bio temple in Pasar Lama, Tangerang, Banten, is gearing up to celebrate Chinese New Year on Feb. 19.
Boen Tek Bio management spokesman Oey Tjin Eng said on Wednesday that around 3,000 visitors would visit the temple during the celebration.
'We have prepared thousands of candles and prayer leaflets,' he said.
Oey said although the peak of the celebration would be on Chinese New Year's Eve, people would start visiting the temple on Feb. 14.
'We also have a charity program on staple food distribution to the poor,' he said, adding that this year, the temple had distributed 10 tons of rice as well as cooking oil and instant noodles. Oey said the celebrations would end on March 8.
